This vase is free form with various colors of glass added to give a mottled look. The glassblower shapes the vase by using wooden and iron tools directly at the furnace. Each vase is a reflection of the craftmanship of the glassblower.
Friedrich Egermann began his company in 1832 after he received a patent for his invention of red stain (made of copper ions) on glass, which took 16 years to perfect. Through this process and other inventions, he elevated Bohemian glassmaking and won numerous awards. |
