This beautiful vase has large clear bubbles placed vertically throughout. The sides are ribbed and it has a scalloped top. Master glassblowers at the Egermann Glassworks in Novy Bor, Czech Republic created this lovely vase.
The glassblower shapes the vase by using wooden and iron tools directly at the furnace. A combination of blue and clear glass impart interesting color effects and is a reflection of the craftmanship of the glassblower.
Friedrich Egermann began his company in 1832 after he received a patent for his invention of red stain (made of copper ions) on glass, which took 16 years to perfect. Through this process and other inventions, he elevated Bohemian glassmaking and won numerous awards. |
